I have been writing, thinking and drawing forever. I was schooled at The Harvey Grammar School, Stonyhurst College and Magdalen College Oxford.
I had a mental breakdown in my second year at Oxford, a factor that has governed my style of life. My favourites are Shakespeare and Gerald Manley Hopkins – and you may describe my primary role as being a Poet. I am intrigued by pencils, light and shade; I also have an ongoing affair with colour and occasionally try my hand with paints and Sharpies.
Presentation: Art, Legacy and Hamlet!
I introduce Leonardo da Vinci into the theme of the day: I then postulate other masters. The meaning and identity of Art Legacy in a European context with special reference to my own work and Shakespeare’s play “Hamlet, Prince of Denmark” whose central character gives letters which prove a dual legacy.
I talk of the nature of art and how its legacy is not just the art itself but icons, forms, dualities, thought, insight and the act of creation. These works of art may provide tools smelted in the imagination to enable us to view our world. It is interesting to note how the masters (and others) have made this bow to form and introduced us to their perceptions and personality.
