Danielle Williams, is a multidisciplinary artist based in Canterbury, with a passion for music and
visual arts. Currently her work is focused on her pen and watercolour sketches that are usually
created live at local music events. Aside from this, the subject matter in her work typically includes
portraits and nature, while paying special attention to colour and light.
As well as being a visual artist, Danielle is a vocalist and musician who collaborates with other
musicians. She has very recently begun working on creating original music for the first time.
Danielle also co-runs a small organisation called “Canterbury Draw” that hosts a monthly artist meet
up in Canterbury, and is currently planning future events for the community.
Danielle has been interested in art since early childhood, so after doing art and photography at
secondary school, she went on to do a Foundation Diploma in Art and Design at the University for
The Creative Arts (UCA) in Canterbury. However, she eventually ended up with a degree in Animal
Science, but soon after graduation began a consistent art practice.

Sharing Legacy Through Creativity
People can be creative for their entire lives, but their output is unlikely to stay the same. Many
musicians may create a set of songs one year, then create a new set of songs a year later that will be
completely different from the last. They are capturing a moment in time, especially when
performing live as they hone raw feelings that create a unique energy on stage.
As Danielle captures these moments in her art, she is also capturing people as they share their
stories. There is a feeling of connection through storytelling because we all have our own individual
stories, but we are also able to associate elements of our story to other people’s experiences. Music
becomes a legacy that we can all share through experiences and creative mediums.
Someone may intend to create something to be personally remembered by but rather than looking
at legacy as an individual idea, could it be something that we all share through creativity?
Through her live music sketching she is creating a series of collective memories that encapsulate the
atmosphere and energy of the performance. A visual legacy, shared between the musician, the
audience, and the artist.
For KArtsCon2024 Danielle will be exhibiting a few of her pieces that were created during live
performances. She will also be drawing the musicians who are performing at this year’s conference
as well as performing herself.
