Scott Elliott is Head of Health and Wellbeing at Medway Council’s Public Health Team. Scott began his career within the NHS as an Exercise Physiologist working in cardiac rehabilitation. Over the last 19 years, Scott has gained service delivery and management experience of stop smoking, obesity, social isolation, health checks and many other core elements of prevention.
Scott manages the core delivery arm of the ‘A Better Medway’ health and well-being service, and has strategic responsibility for core public health agendas such as obesity and infant feeding, the teamwork with a wide range of multi-sector partners. This includes coordinating the Social Prescribing Strategy group, Healthy Weight Network, Physical Activity Alliance and Medway Food Partnership.
The Public Health team’s core objective is to improve health and well-being and reduce health inequalities. In addition to the service delivery and partnership working, this means we are focused on addressing the wider determinants of health for residents. This requires a health in all policies approach and working across the council, NHS and other organisations, to create a healthy environment and maximise opportunities to engage in activities that improve health and wellbeing.
