Jonathan Ash is a Medway-based fine artist.
He grew up in Rochester and, via North Wales, France, the Isle of Wight, Poland and Bristol, returned to Medway five years ago and is based at Nucleus Arts in Chatham.
His colourblindness and a late diagnosis of Level 1 autism have given him a unique style and have both helped and hindered his practice.
Hidden (Dis)abilities
Hidden (Dis)Abilities is a talk with practical exercises looking at how my practice as a fine artist has been helped (and hindered) by the fact I am colourblind and have level 1 autism.
It will be a chance for participants to consider their own perception of colour and how it can be manipulated (free 3D glasses for all participants!) as well as a “through my eyes” look at how my everyday life can be affected by colourblindness and autism but how it has shaped a very unique style and working practice for me.
Potential triggers are: mental health, undiagnosed autism and I can signpost and support anyone who may be affected by these themes.
