Competition Topic: Heart and Art
In conjunction with KArtsCon 2023, we have a schools art competition to engage schoolgoers to think creatively and critically about our theme “Art: Emotions and Creativity”.
Who Can Enter?
The competition is open to all primary and secondary school students in Kent in the following Year groups:
- Ages 4 to 12
- Ages 13 to 18
What and How to Submit
What is the connection between art and the heart? The artist can decide how emotions create art, or how art creates emotions.
Each entry must have a title and a brief description (maximum 150 words). Only one entry per student, please. Entrants can submit the work as a JPG or GIF or PNG upload using this entry form.
Note: Due to the volume of submissions in previous competitions, we will require ALL submissions to be made online. If your work is chosen, we will ask you to bring it in for exhibition purposes.
Materials
Your entry must be two-dimensional. You may use any materials, techniques or processes (e.g. drawing, painting, printmaking, textiles, photography, collage, montage, CAD). Maximum size is A3.
Exhibition and Prizes
For each category, there will be:
- An overall winner
- 2 runners-up
Prizes are kindly sponsored by local businesses.
The judging panel is led by Dr Peter Gregory, FRSA CollT NLG (Principal Lecturer of Creative Arts Education, Canterbury Christchurch University).
Closing Date
All entries must be received by 10 June 2023.
All entries will be judged on
- Originality and creativity
- Confident handling of materials
- Boldness and impact
